HAI Sadly Announces the Passing of Keith Harvey

Helicopter Industry Pioneer, Keith Harvey passed away on April 22, 2008 at the age of 80.  Harvey began his work in aviation at Parsons Corporation in Michigan manufacturing the Sikorsky R4 tail rotor blades and the Bell 47 main rotor wood blades, while still attending college.

Houston, Texas, February 26, 2008 –  HELI-EXPO 2008 came to a close in Houston Tuesday---breaking all attendance and exhibitor records. A record setting 17,373 participates attended this year's HELI-EXPO. Five-hundred and twenty-three exhibitors showcased their products and services.  Sixty-five helicopters were displayed on the showroom floor.  Exhibitor space covered 252,700 net square feet and featured avionics, accessories, components, and related products, all under one roof!

Brown Convention Center, in Houston, Texas.  The first day saw a record setting number of attendees; 15,552 people were on hand to learn about the latest products and services being offered by the international helicopter community!

HAI is Saddened by the Passing of Frank Piasecki, Helicopter Pioneer-UPDATED

Helicopter Association International sadly reports the passing of a giant in the rotorcraft industry. Frank Nicholas Piasecki was a pioneer and inventor of the tandem-rotor helicopter. Piasecki was an aeronautical and mechanical engineer. He was born in Lansdowne, a suburb of Philadelphia on October 24, 1919, and lived most of his life in Delaware County. He was a man of great creative vision. Despite advanced age and strokes, Piasecki remained engaged in rotorcraft development for Piasecki Aircraft Corporation, the company he founded in 1955, and served as Chief Executive. Piasecki died February 11, 2008 after becoming ill in his home. He was 88.
